Postcards

Sandy sent a number of postcards home, and appears to have bought some as mementoes. The postcards below were all saved by those 'at home', and include a couple sent by others.

Dear Ivy
Just a P.C. (postcard?) to keep up the agreement, who[sic?] are you getting on Kid, I have not heard from you for a while, owing to the fighting on the canal, the mail has been held up so will get it sometime I suppose. I can tell you it isn't nice not hearing from you, I thought I would just about go mad if I don't get one nearly every week. Well my dear their has been a [indecipherable] letter[bitter?]

051-Shepherd with sheep

fighting on the canal since I wrote to you last, it is no use me describing it to you the, the simple reason is that you will hear about it as soon as us, and a lot more about it you see they do not tell us about the actual fighting I do not know of any of our boy being hurt. We expect a good [stather?] up the week. We do not expect to get to the canal, but might get away to England any time now. We might possibly be on our way by the time you get this.

041-Transport d'herbes

Well my dear after many inquiries I found Frank Collier [?]. He was sitting in front of me at the pictures one night, I had a short chat with him. He wishes to be remembered to you he is in the Southland Mtd [Mounted] Rifles. I also was having a long talk to Willie Stone [?] he said he had heard from Andrew & Eva a few times he also wishes to be remembered to my wee Ivy.
Jimmy & Keith are still in the hospital, but expect them out soon now, Mac has not picked up since his vaccination, it has knocked him out completely

My cousin [who?] arrived alright, had a night in Cairo with him. I will have a nice long letter for you next week.
Give my love to all I know.
Special (Mother, Heabel[?], Eva, (Jim & Lil[?]) Bill & Bella [?], Andrew & Alice, Marjory & Lillian, Tom, & the rest
Best of Love to yourself

Dear Ivy - We are still hanging about here, Nothing much doing just at present. How are they all at home. The weather here today just reminds me of old Ingill. Blowing a gale accompanied with plenty of rain. I miss the war news here. Egypt is quite a thing of the post [area?] Best Love Sandy AS Mulligan

I didn't think I could get an envelope. I suppose you are still very busy at work, have you still got Bobby. I am sending you[r] mother a P.C along with this just to show her I haven't forgotten any of my best friends. Remember me to Aggie, tell her I never received a letter from her.

Place de l'Opera et Theatre

Place de l'Opera et Theatre: This is taken at what we call the centre of the town, you can see that it is a well planned town. The monument is of Abrahim Pacha. The tree at the back is where the Esbikish [?] Gardens are.

This is a front view of the Museum, which as I told you before is a wonderful place.

This gives one a very good idea of the main gates of the Citadel you can see that it is a very solid structure.
